How To Increase PC Performance

Publish Date: 8/17/2009

The computer as purchased new may preform faster only as time passes, its performance degrades and might not run at the same speed as it used to.
This typically happens as the system becomes filled with the a lot of applications over the time and occasionally even a computer virus or misc. data in the system can result to this problem
.

On that point here are a few tips that you can abide by to better your laptop or desktop's functioning
:

1.
Free the disk space
!

The
Disk Cleanup is among the utilities available in windows which will help you by freeing space on your hard disk by removing the unused files
.

To
run this service program, click on Start and select Run
.

Type cleanmgr in the Run window and click 'OK
'.

Instantly, this will open the Disk Cleanup window where you are able to select from the options like Temporary Internet files or Empty Recycle Bin, etc to clean your hard disk
.

You
also have many options where you can remove the unused Windows Components, unused Programs and remove the old restore points to free the hard disk space in your laptop or desktop
.

It's always good to remove the programs that you no longer use as this can keep some space on hard disk
.

2. Fix the file system errors and recovering bad sectors of hard disk

We
might not notice the system errors in our hard disk that can decrease the speed of your laptop or desktop, removing or fixing these errors can increase the speed of the PC to some extent. This may be done by using the Check Now option.

Choose a disk and right click it and click Properties
.
Click Tools tab, select Check Now and in the Check Disk window that appears, select Automatically fix file system error and Scan for and attempt recovery of harmful sectors and begin the process by clicking 'Start
'.
In the Checking Disk window, click 'Yes' to restart your computer. The disk will be scanned for file system errors after the laptop or desktop is restarted
.

3. Defragmenting hard disk

Once you save a data file on the disk, it's usually fragmented into petite files and these files are stashed away upon different locations in the disk. Once you need a file, the hard drive combines these files that are present in different locations and combines them into a file and then presents you the master file. This action decelerates the speed of your computer and you are able to avoid this by using Disk Defragmenter in windows that defragments these files on the hard disk making it easy to recover a file.

To
open Disk Defragmenter, right click on a disk and select 'Tools
'.
Select Defragment Now and in the Disk Defragmenter window that appears select Analyze to analyze and after its completion you can start Defragmentation by clicking
'Defragment'.

4. Removing Virus and Spyware using Antivirus and Antispyware software

5. Cleansing the registry may help you to better the performance of the computer to some degree.

CCleaner
embodies one of the better softwares which will delete the temporary files, empty the Recycle Bin, delete inappropriate registry entries
.

6. Removing Spyware or a Virus using Windows Defender and Malicious Software Removal tool

In counterpoint to the several antivirus softwares and the antispyware tools acquirable, we have Windows tools like Windows Defender and Windows Malicious Software Removal tool.
These tools are similar to antivirus softwares just not as strong as the Antivirus softwares (Norton, McAfee, etc
).

7. Disable the less frequently used Programs

Disable the seldom used Startup Programs to optimize your PC.

.

windows on a regular basis for improved performance and also update the drivers and antivirus or antispyware softwares
